Each week, parents receive letters about the progress of the program. This is an example of one such letter from LAST year's program.

Dear Parent (s),

Welcome to Week One of our Summer Workshop Program! We are looking forward to getting to know you and your daughter during this exciting week! This information - and helpful summer program parent resources - will be on our website by the end of the week. Go to: www.InstituteForGirlsDevelopment.com. Click on: Programs & Services followed by Summer Workshop Programs.

First, some important logistical information:
• Our emergency cell phone number is: ______________. This cell phone will be with us at all times. Please use this number if you need to speak with us immediately and/or for emergencies.
• Picking up your daughter: Our program ends promptly at 5:00pm.You may choose to pick up your daughter outside the "Great Room" right as the program ends. Girls who are not picked up outside the "Great Room" will be escorted by an Institute team member to the Courtyard and will wait until everyone is picked up. Thank you for being on time.
• Yoga Attire: Yoga classes are on Tuesdays and Thursdays. We suggest that the girls wear something comfortable to move in on these days. Mats are provided in the yoga studio.

Second, I want to share some information about what your daughter will be enjoying this week.

Monday, our first day, will be an exciting welcome to "Mind, Body, Spirit Adventures!" While getting to know each other and the Institute team the girls will enjoy various activities that incorporate and introduce our theme. These include arts and crafts activities, games, creating musical instruments and music, and setting personal goals for the week - goals that will be honored in an End Of The Week Ceremony.

Tuesday: Today, our Mind, Body, Spirit Adventures give the girls a chance to explore their strengths as individuals and as a group! Our "embodiment activities" (including yoga) encourage the girls to identify the things they most enjoy about their wonderful, growing, strong, creative bodies. Through arts and crafts, group poetry writing, journaling, and games, the girls will name and celebrate this newly formed and uniquely empowered "tribe."

Wednesday includes a visit and creative workshop with artist Karen Bagnard! Girls will also enjoy a variety of activities related to the world of friendship.

Thursday includes MORE about friendship, including tools for working out those messy friendship conflicts. Yoga with Jenn adds to the fun!

Friday will be a day of Celebration! Along with exploring friendship solutions and a positive mindset through games and art, the girls will have their End Of The Week Ceremony, celebrating goals accomplished and activities enjoyed.

As you can see, this week will be filled with many enjoyable, exciting, and empowering activities. Feel free to talk with me or one of the other Institute team leaders if you have any questions. Meantime, we look forward to working with your daughter!

Warm Regards,
Robin S. Harpster, MA
