Wellness Grit Group for Teens

Wellness Grit Group for Teens

Join us for skill-building, camaraderie, and practical tools to help live your best life! This weekly therapy group is designed for adolescents (ages 12–17) who are living with chronic physical pain in any form. The group will provide a supportive space where youth can connect with peers who share similar lived experiences, helping to destigmatize the experience of chronic pain.

Through a supportive environment of connection, teens get to share their stories, affirm their resilience, and experiment with helpful tools like expressive arts, mindfulness practices, meditation, and other activities. Participants will explore the mind-body connection and learn tools for managing pain while increasing their overall functionality and enjoyment of life. The group will also include psychoeducation on the neurobiology of pain to help participants gain insight into their physical and emotional experiences.

Key goals of the group include:

  • Identifying and strengthening personal support systems
  • Enhancing understanding of how to interact with the world while living with pain
  • Sharing resources and developing coping
  • Building self-advocacy and resiliency skills
  • Learning strategies for working with worry and spiraling thoughts
  • Increase flexibility
  • Encouraging greater activity, creativity, and joy
  • Decrease feelings of isolation and increase a sense of community

This group offers a chance for adolescents to develop meaningful connections, learn self-management strategies, and discover ways to lead a full, empowered life alongside chronic pain.
